UK Schools – Brighter Thinking for the new curriculum

Headlining on the stand will be a new range of blended digital and print resources, all specifically developed and matched to the reformed GCSE and A level curriculum for first teaching in England in September 2015.

On show for the first time will be GCSE Maths, GCSE English Language and Literature, A/AS Level English Language and Literature, and A/AS level Computer Science. The Cambridge School Shakespeare series and Computing KS3 resources will also be featured on the stand.

Recognising that fresh challenges require new resources and additional levels of support, the UK Schools team has developed a wide range of new teaching and learning materials to support and guide teachers and help them link progression clearly to the new mark schemes. These print and digital resources provide support, purpose, context and progression around the new assessment objectives.

English Language Teaching - a unique approach

ELT teachers looking for new course material and resources to engage and support learners are invited to take a look at Unlock, Cambridge English Empower and the Cambridge Learning Management System from Cambridge University Press’s ELT group.

Unlock combines thought-provoking video from Discovery Education with carefully scaffolded exercises and a fresh approach to critical thinking skills, enabling learners to develop the academic skills and language they need to succeed in their studies.

Cambridge English Empower is a new general English adult course combining course content from Cambridge University Press with validated assessment from Cambridge English Language Assessment. This unique mix of engaging classroom material and reliable assessment, with personalised online practice, enables learners to make consistent and measurable progress.

The Cambridge Learning Management System (CLMS) is a robust platform that holds course content, materials and administration in one user-friendly online system. It allows teachers to easily and securely manage classes, track and comment on their students’ progress and highlight areas of strength and weakness for ongoing performance improvement. Also on show will be The Cambridge Bookshelf app, allowing quick and easy access to world-class educational content from Cambridge University Press. Come to the stand to find out more and try it for yourself!

Support for teachers

Commenting on the show Linden Harris, Deputy Managing Director, Education, at Cambridge University Press, said: ‘We are looking forward to BETT and to showing schools how our resources can support them, particularly as digital education continues to evolve and grow in importance. As a lead educator in the UK and across the globe, we are keen to support teachers as they work to inspire and engage learners – particularly in England this year where we’re supporting teachers and learners at a time of major curriculum reform, driven by a simple goal of creating innovative products which will ignite brighter thinking and learning for all.”
