Cartwright Pickard Architects Win Planning For Arundel Street, Sheffield
Sheffield forges into the future as mixed-used development within the city’s Cultural Industries Quarter is awarded planning Cartwright Pickard Architects’ Arundel Street, a mixed-use scheme at the heart of Sheffield’s Cultural Industries Quarter for Devonshire Green Holdings, has recently been awarded planning. In keeping with the original street layout, the new buildings are organised around a central courtyard, providing valuable amenity space to the development’s users. Furthermore the new building positively addresses the public open space fronting onto Arundel Lane with an innovative built form which makes a positive contribution to the street scene. Great attention to detail has been given towards ensuring that the new development sits well within in its historic setting. Of the multiple Victorian buildings currently in situ, Cartwright Pickard Architects aim to retain and enhance the existing listed buildings. In doing so, the architects retain the historic fabric of the Cultural Industries Quarter whilst adapting the area for the city’s 21st century requirements.
