Government Confirms That Teachers Are Not Exempt From AWR.
Government officials from the Department for Education at Great Smith Street London SW1 have confirmed that ‘teachers are not exempt from the AWR under regulation 3(2).’

Randstad Education’s Stewart McCoy explained: ‘I have been in dialogue with the DfE since September when some agencies were suggesting that teachers are professionals, and therefore out of scope. It’s a clear cut answer which I welcome from the DfE as a result of Randstad highlighting the issue.”
The government ended its statement by thanking Randstad for drawing the DfE’s attention to the issue and promised to ‘update the guidance on our website to confirm the position’.
