Long Furlong Primary School Wins Poddely Play Equipment With Oxfam's Big Zoom

Long Furlong Primary School in Abingdon has been announced as the winner of the Oxfam Big Zoom free prize draw, securing themselves the prize of Poddely play equipment, provided by leading provider, Playforce.

The nursery children at Long Furlong Primary School took part in their Big Zoom event which saw them racing around their school grounds on their scooters in order to raise money for Oxfam. By organising their own Big Zoom event and raising money to help people living in poverty they were automatically entered into a free prize draw to win some Poddely play equipment.

“The teachers, parents and children all had a fantastic time at our Big Zoom event and we were delighted to have raised almost £300 for Oxfam. Winning this fantastic prize is the icing on the cake!” said Mr Zaheer Ahmed, Head Teacher of Long Furlong Primary School. “We already have some fantastic playground equipment from Playforce and we’re delighted to be able to add the new Poddely Set to it!”

Sandra Wilkinson, Product Manager for Oxfam said “Long Furlong School nursery ran a really fun and successful Big Zoom and cake sale to raise money for Oxfam. The teachers talked to the children about people in poverty around the world and how they were helping make a difference. I am delighted that they are the lucky winners of the Poddely prize.”

Launched earlier this year, Poddely is portable, stimulating and ever-changing, encouraging early years and primary children to learn through play. Designed to epitomise imagination and present endless opportunities to children, Poddely also allows practitioners to deliver learning outcomes in a fun way, without boundaries.

Oxfam’s Big Zoom took place from the 13th to the 19th June 2011, as a fun fundraising event for children under five. Nurseries, crèches, playgroups and parents were encouraged to organise their own Big Zoom, by setting up short courses for children to zoom around, whilst raising money. Children chose any vehicle (with wheels) that they wanted to ride on – from scooters to skates, bikes to trikes, and prams to pushchairs!

Long Furlong Primary School were presented with their prize of Poddely play equipment by a member of the Playforce team and a representative of Oxfam at their school on Thursday 8^th September.
