Nominate A Top Community Project For The Kellogg's ASA Swimtastic Awards 2011
There is less than one month to go to nominate a deserving Community Project in your area for the Kellogg’s ASA Swimtastic Awards 2011, the awards which recognise outstanding non-elite achievements and unsung swimming stars across the country.
The ‘Community Project Award’ has been specifically designed to recognise impressive swimming related projects that bring the community together or community schemes that have developed over a number of years to become an important part of society.

The pool opened in April 2009 after a dedicated group of teachers, governors and parents from Colnesis Junior School raised more than £100,000.Olympian Mark Foster Joins Manchester Children For The UK's First Big Splash Aquasplash Festival! The money raised through fundraising activities and the Big Lottery Fund was used to replace the outdoor pool with an indoor facility that could be used all year round. The pool is now used by local schools for swimming lessons and public sessions in the school holidays.
This year the Kellogg’s ASA Swimtastic Awards are set to be even bigger and better than ever, with a glittering ‘Oscar-style’ awards ceremony which will be held at the fantastic Ponds Forge, Sheffield on 5th November 2011.
Perhaps the most exciting attraction this year is the opportunity for all national winners to join Britain’s top aquatic athletes in the pool, before the celebration dinner and disco.
In addition to the Community Project award, there are a number of other categories that acknowledge people of all ages and abilities, including:
- Young Swimmer of the Year
- Disability Swimmer of the Year
- Parent of the Year
- Swim4Life Family Swim Award
- British Swimming Supporters Club Senior Swimmer Award
- Fundraising Award
- Facility Operator Award
- Swim School Award
- Top Teacher Award
Katie Brazier, the ASA’s Sponsorship Director, said: “The ASA organises the Kellogg’s ASA Swimtastic Awards because it is a great opportunity for us to celebrate amazing achievements in the pool.
“We know there are thousands of unsung swimming stars out there and so we are looking forward to receiving lots of nominations!” To find out more about each award and to nominate someone who deserves recognition for their achievements, visit www.swimming.org.
