Samsung Electronics unveils new tablet designed especially for education

Samsung Electronics has unveiled the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 Education, a tablet built exclusively for education to inspire students to work better, faster and smarter.

Graham Long, Vice President of Business Enterprise Team, Samsung UK and Ireland, said: “Samsung has always strived to provide the best technology and solutions that meet the needs of our users. We are really excited to have launched the Tab 4 Education, which combines product innovation with our understanding of the education sector’s needs. Technology can help to create interactive and collaborative learning environments, which facilitate even greater interaction between students and teachers.”

The Galaxy Tab 4 Education (10.1 inch) addresses the unique needs of classrooms, specifically durability, manageability and access to digital learning resources. It inspires students to work better, faster and smarter, and discover limitless possibilities on-the-go. Developed for education, the Tab 4 Education demonstrates Samsung’s commitment to delivering innovative 1:1 learning experiences that improve student outcomes. It integrates with Google Play for Education, which provides access to an ever-growing selection of teacher-approved content, and allows the purchase of apps and content via a school PO with no credit card required. With its NFC technology, the Tab 4 Education allows administrators to set up an entire classroom of tablets in minutes, rather than hours.

The multi-window capability of the Tab 4 Education allows two multi-window supported apps to be open at once. The large WXGA 10.1" display, Android 4.4 Kit Kat and quad-core processor help to maximise speed and productivity, and the 16GB memory and MicroSD card slot for up to 64GB of additional storage help to ensure ample storage space. The dual band Wi-Fi ensures that all students in a classroom are able to access the Internet at once. Front and rear-facing cameras (3 megapixel rear, 1.3 megapixel front) encourage creative learning possibilities, and Bluetooth 4.0 allows the convenient use of wireless accessories. Work can be printed directly to a Samsung printer via the Samsung Mobile Print app. The Tab 4 Education features a shock-absorbing, rugged silicone case and the durable Gorilla Glass, making it ideal for life in and out of the classroom.

To distribute the tablet to UK schools, Samsung is collaborating with Cloud-learning services provider C-Learning, a Samsung Elite Partner and Google for Education Premier Partner. C-learning provides a range of services to help teachers and students make the most of technology hosted in the cloud, including devices, applications, teacher training and support.
