Seminar For Educators Focusing On Support For Bereaved Children

The seminars, which take place in London on Tuesday 5 July 2011 and in Wakefield, West Yorkshire on Tuesday 12 July 2011, are essential for educators working with children and young people.

Confirmed speakers include Erica Brown, Senior Lecturer in Early Childhood at the University of Worcester, who will provide an academic insight into how children and young people grieve. Other speakers include practitioners from organisations such as the Child Bereavement Charity and Rainbows GB.

A case study session at each seminar will involve a bereaved individual speaking about their personal experiences and providing an insight into the impact of a sudden death on a family.

The seminar is a low-cost opportunity for continuing professional development, and speakers will cover a variety of topics including: insights into how children and young people experience and express grief; a common-sense approach to helping children, young people and families deal with the horrendous shock of sudden death; and the range of services and resources available for educators working with bereaved children and young people.
